Some Tips for Picking a Los Angeles Limo Service

Monday, August 31st, 2009

If you are in the market for a Los Angeles limo service then the first step should be to investigate the different limo companies in the area. Find out how other people who have used the limo service have felt about the company. Personal experience is without a doubt the biggest comparison of how well a company is performing. Other people who have had bad experiences may have written about them with different review forums online. Some who have had great experiences may have also shared their personal experience. Just remember when using this type of forum that more people who have had a bad experience will share their experience than those who have had a good experience. You should also consider how valid the comments are since a certain percentage of people are virtually impossible to please. This is definitely an important resource though when you are trying to find a good limo company.

Another great step to take is to investigate the companies hiring policies if they are open with them. Many Los Angeles limo companies require that their drivers have a clean driving record for at least 5 years and they have no criminal record. These simple steps provided by the limo company help to ensure that the drivers are safe and clean. This means that you can feel more comfortable with these drivers. Typically these companies will charge a little bit more for their services because they have to pay a little bit more to get the kind of help they are looking for but it is well worth the extra cost.

Avoid companies which offer prices that seem way too good to be true. Like most things if it seems too good to be true then it probably is. With these extremely inexpensive companies standard amenities may be lacking and the cars may be old and in poor repair. One good way to get good prices is to find a newer company. Many of the newer Los Angeles limo companies are owned and operated by people who drove for other more established companies for years. These companies often use the tactic of offering extremely good deals in order to draw in clients. Overtime their prices will begin to rise as they become more successful but it is an excellent way to build a client list and an excellent way for you to save some money on your limo ride. Newer companies will also offer coupons and other discount options on a regular basis.

Using a Los Angeles limo service is a great method of getting around town and going to the airport. As long as you take the time to learn about the different limo companies in the area you will have a great experience. Just remember that knowingmore about the companies and what they offer not only increases your chances of having a great experience but it also allows you to easily avoid the companies which are almost definitely going to leave you far less than satisfied.

So Where’s The Cheap Fuel Hiding?

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Ask a driver virtually anywhere in the world, what they think of fuel prices, and the answer will almost always be the same; “they’re too expensive”. While there is a global price set by the cost of crude oil, which seems to be on the rise most of the time, the range of prices across the world is quite surprising. We may complain that our petrol, LPG and diesel prices are too expensive here in Australia, there are indeed many places that pay far more than us, making it incredibly hard to own a car, and there are also some that pay very little, making them ideal destinations for driving holidays and road trips.

Here in Australia, the price of petrol on average seems to vary roughly between $1.20 and $1.70 AUD per litre, changing quite frequently. And while we do complain, it’s not too bad at all really, considering the price paid by some other countries. In many EU countries fuel is around the €1.70 to €2.00 Euro per litre mark, which works out at around $2.80 to $3.50 AUD, or roughly double what we pay for petrol here.

Although if we look at prices across the whole world, even EU countries with the highest fuel costs don’t come close to some, with the winner for dearest fuel being Sierra Leone, where motorists pay 14,400 Leones, or $5.70 AUD, per litre!

Now at the other end of the scale, we find some countries where the government has taken a different approach.  Here, rather than adding high levels of tax to fuel and profiteering off motorists, the governments subsidise the cost of petrol, effectively making it far cheaper than the global standard. It’s no surprise to find many of these countries in the middle east, where much oil has come from over the years, and indeed Saudi Arabia at $0.14 AUD and Kuwait at $0.25 AUD per litre are among countries with unbelievable petrol costs.

While not the most popular destinations for travel, nearby Egypt also has ultra cheap petrol, at $0.38 AUD per litre, something many travellers don’t realise. Perhaps many more would do a self drive holiday if they did!

Across the globe though, we find the country which seems to have the cheapest petrol in the world, Venezuela. At roughly $0.05 AUD per litre, you could fill 25 to 30 cars’ tanks there for the same price as filling one car’s tank here. Quite the bargain really! While they will no doubt end up with way too many cars on the road, and not to mention terrific levels of smog and pollution, for now it’s all swell, and an unbeatable place for a self drive holiday.

How to save money when you hire a car

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Normally when you hire a car the vehicle will come with a full tank of fuel. Under the hire agreement in most cases you will find that you have to return the car with a full tank or the car hire company will re-fuel the vehicle, but will usually make an administrative charge for doing this.

This of course is understandable as it is going to take time taking the car to a petrol filling station, even if it is only a hundred metres away from their car hire depot.

If the car has been returned full it can be efficiently checked over, cleaned and be ready for the next customer and with shortages of car hire vehicles in July and August 2009 in many parts of Europe this has been most important.

There are a few car hire companies that actually encourage a renter to return the car empty, so they can automatically charge the customer an administration fee.

So always check the situation out when you are signing up the car hire documentation at the check in desk and then you can save money.

When you do fill up with petrol or diesel, remember to keep the receipt so you can show it to the car hire return check in staff if asked. There have been cases whereby renters have added water to make the tank full, or bought diesel instead of unleaded petrol. The majority of rental vehicles have stickers on the outside of the fuel cap area and inside the area as well.

Another way to save money when renting a hire car is to buy your car hire excess insurance from a specialist insurance provider. Their daily policies are normally a lot cheaper than those provided as an additional cost onto the car rental by the car hire company. The reason is fairly straightforward they add a higher profit margin on. The website www.insurance4carrental.com acts as an introducer advertising service for a couple of providers and you can buy daily car hire excess policies or an even better idea is the annual policy.
